Norwood Super Series Criterium Results
Earlier this week Norwood Cycling Club held their annual Tour Down Under racing series over three days, starting with the Rapha Kermesse at Uraidla, Giant Criterium at Victoria Park Monday and aBloc Cycling Beer Criterium on Tuesday also at Victoria Park.
With many from interstate riders coming along to race whilst the Tour Down Under is on it’s not surprising to see some very fast racing. Across the three days racing were athletes Matt, James, Andrew and Coach Phil.
The first race proved too hot and fast for many as the hills were not kind, over half the field were DNFs in each grade.
The 2nd stage of the series at Victoria Park proved a much better day with most athletes finishing in the main bunch but honours went to Andrew picking up 3rd place in B grade.
The final stage, also at Victoria Park, everyone had settled down but the racing was just as tough with slightly windier conditions. The attacks came earlier, Andrew managed to get across to the winning break and had a solid sprint to claim 2nd in B grade.
Full results of the series can be found here

The 2018 racing continues with some outstanding results already this week. At the Southern Veteran and Ladies Cycling Club the season began with the usual time trial on a 16km course around McLaren Flat followed by two laps on the same course as graded scratch race but two laps. The race result was on the combined time of both races so the pressure was on to do a good time trial, the wind was buffeting riders around and proved very challenging.
Michelle rode and excellent race winning the time trial and backing up with 2nd place in the road race in D grade
Graham was next best placed with a 3rd in A grade
Well done to the rest of our athletes competing today the wind and mechanical problems played a big part in the results. Full Results can be found here

Both coaches raced in their respective grades. Phil having been moved up into B grade from last year, the short technical circuit and the pace of the bunch proved too much for many including Phil and he was pulled from the race.
Michelle had better luck being placed in C grade with only two other women. The handicapping was not great and she should have raced with B grade. The racing was hard but she managed to pull of the win!
Nathan also had a good race in Junior C grade with 3rd place
